Megs Review: The Personal Librarian
Book: The Personal Librarian
Authors: Marie Benedict and Victoria Christopher Murray
Genre: biographical/historical fiction
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book was AMAZING. Please stop reading this review and just go get it. I had heard about the Morgan Library in New York but nothing beyond the name. This book gave an in-depth look at how the library was able to become the treasure it is today by looking at the life of its first library director, Belle de Costa Greene. The story is compelling and heartbreaking and enthralling, all at once. The research the authors did to ensure accuracy to the real-life people and the time period is remarkable. I was so excited when I got the notification from my local library that my copy was available and I could not put this book down. I got teary a few times while reading this but it was so worth it! I’m absolutely headed to the Morgan Library next time I’m in NYC.
